Johan Kock is 59 years old and living in Denmark. He sailed for 27 years as a marine engineer and have made pipes for the last 11 years. As an engineer,he have been able to design and build pipe-making tools to meet my own exacting requirements.
He produce about 225 pipes per a year.
As a craftsman, he believe it to be a matter of honour that all his designs are his own. He do not copy the designs of any other pipemaker.
Every part of every one of his pipes has its own story to tell. Delicate silver work is another of his trademarks. His passion, inspired by his girlfriend Jonna, shines through every piece of every pipe that I produce.
His pipes come in all shapes and sizes, depending upon the size, colour and structure of the raw materrials that he has to hand. Some are large, some are small, some have light colours and some dark. The mouthpieces can be acrylic, ebony or art amber.
He believe it is vital that each pipe should have excellent smoking properties. A special characteristic of many of his pipes is an almost imperceptible transition, in the middle of the pipebowl, from the almost vertical upper walls to a virtually conical base. This gives the pipe its particular charm, especially with unusally shaped pipes.
